SUGAR MOONAn all-acoustic 4-piece band with rich vocal harmonies playing a blend of Americana, old-time, country, bluegrass and jazz styles. Vera van Heeringen (guitar/mandolin/vocals), Dave Luke (guitar/mandolin/vocals), Tommy Mills (double bass/vocals) and Jock Tyldesley (fiddle/banjo/vocals) are among the most respected musicians on the roots music scenes.
Vera van Heeringen's roots are in bluegrass, which she studied from an early age, developing a rich and individual style on the guitar. She possesses a full but plaintive singing voice, and has become a demon at playing old-time fiddle tunes on the mandolin, as well as being a highly sought-after Cajun multi-instrumentalist with The Flatville Aces. Dave Luke paid his dues on the Country music scene before joining The Coyotes, who gained a great reputation in and around London, touring Europe and Scandinavia. He is a regular member of Gail Davies' band, and has travelled to Nashville to play both The Ryman Auditorium and The Grand Ole Opry at Gail's invitation. He has also performed with Kathy Chiavola. Tommy Mills has played an extraordinary variety of music in his career, with a special affinity for roots music. For many years he has been a regular fixture on t he Cajun and Zydeco scene, touring with visiting Louisiana acts Sean Vidrine, Balfa Toujours and Harold Guillory. Recently he has been playing with Liverpool-based Latino outfit, Radio Chango. Jock Tyldesley has been immersed in playing Cajun music for the last 15 years and is a founder member of The Flatville Aces and The Bearcats, as well as English Rootzy party outfit The Chipolata 5. He is also known for his love of Southern Appalachian music and is a fine exponent of the old-time banjo. He has toured internationally with the likes of Eddie Lejeune, Balfa Toujours and Steve Riley. |
